Posted on April 15th, 2006. About Uncategorized.

Siesta Fiesta is just around the corner on April 29th and 30th.
Here is the rundown:
Saturday & Sunday 10am - 5pm, Free Admission

SIESTA KEY VILLAGE, FLORIDA – Bring your beach blanket and walking shoes to the 28th Annual Siesta Fiesta Arts & Crafts Festival, returning to Beach Road on Saturday, April 29th and Sunday, April 30th from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

“Siesta Fiesta is the marathon weekend of fun, sun, sights and sounds,” said Howard Alan, producer of the Siesta Fiesta Arts & Crafts Festival and more than 40 other art shows throughout Florida and beyond. “It is the ultimate art event with a line-up of the nation’s finest artists and crafters displaying their work along the Gulf of Mexico.”

With two shows combined and one-of-a-kind pieces ranging from $15 to $20,000, there is something for everyone at the Siesta Fiesta Arts & Crafts Festival. Fine art on display will include copper sculptures, hand-crafted fine jewelry, functional and decorative pottery, original paintings and stunning photographic prints. Jewelry, ceramics, pottery, clothing, sculpture, dolls, and stained glass will compliment the artwork craft show featuring products all hand-made in the United States by the crafters themselves.

An expansive Green Market with plants, orchids, exotic flora, handmade soaps, gourmet spices and freshly popped kettle corn further compliments the weekend, blending nature with nurture.

Amidst the seaside sounds of the Gulf of Mexico will be live solo musicians playing the sitar, steel drums and keyboard. And, two food courts at either end of Beach Road will keep you nourished all day long.

Spectators strolling along Beach Road will enjoy the sights and listen to stories from the artists themselves.

To ensure a top-notch event, the 28th Annual Siesta Fiesta Arts & Crafts Festival is juried, meaning only artists and crafters with the highest quality work and most appealing displays are accepted.

Directions

The 28th Annual Siesta Fiesta Arts & Crafts Festival will be held along the Gulf of Mexico at Ocean Boulevard and Beach Road.

Shuttles are available at Phillipi Estate Park, 5500 Tamiami Trail South, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost is $2 each way.

Recognized as the cultural center of the state of Florida since the early 1920s, artists of many disciplines, writers, performers, musicians, and architects have been attracted to the community in great numbers. Sarasota is the home of Florida West Coast Symphony and its famous Sarasota Music Festival which draws students, musicians, professors, and lovers of chamber music from around the world for a three-week event of international importance; Sarasota Ballet; Sarasota Opera; and numerous other musical, dance, artistic, and theatrical venues.

The community also is renowned as the home of the Sarasota School of Architecture which developed as an adaptation to its sub-tropical climate, using newly emerging materials manufactured or implemented following World War Two.

Sarasota is home to Mote Marine Laboratory, a premier marine rescue, research, and aquarium; Marie Selby Botanical Gardens with its renowned orchid collection; G-Wiz Museum, a science museum of hands on-appeal to children of all ages; Sarasota Jungle Gardens, which carries on early tourist attraction traditions; as well as many historic sites and neighborhoods.

Colleges in Sarasota include New College of Florida, a highly acclaimed public liberal arts college which serves as the honors college for the state; Ringling School of Art and Design, a school of art, music, and design; and a satellite campus of both University of South Florida and Eckerd College. Several two-year colleges include Sarasota County Technical Institute and Keiser College of Sarasota.
